The 11 steps to getting your vehicle back to the way it was:

Contact your insurance company
Have your vehicle sent directly to the Body Shop
If your vehicle is in a tow yard, have it moved as soon as possible
Contact the Body Shop and inform them of all of your concerns
Ask the Body Shop rental arrangements for drop-off and pick-up
Ask the Body Shop about warranty coverage for your repairs
It is not necessary to obtain a written estimate when an insurance is involved. The Body Shop works directly off of the insurance company's estimate. This eliminates overlooked or hidden damages
If there is no insurance company involved, the Body Shop will provide you with a written estimate free-of-charge
Ask the Body Shop how long the repairs will take
Contact your insurance company for final payment prior to picking up your vehicle
Do a complete walk around before and after the repairs are completed
